Chapter 25: Rules
This is a very helpful chapter for most parents as it takes a good look into how rules are made. In general there are two types of rules:
1. The rule that everyone obeys
2. The rule that everyone can quote, but everyone ignores
The second type of rule is the problem. How to analyze and fix your rules so that they work for you and you are not frustrated by them is a major theme of this chapter.
The second theme is how to create rules to handle any situation you are dealing with. Just as we have rules that help us keep safe every day such as, “look before you leap!” we too can make up these rules to help our young children in any capacity we wish. An example is given, step by step, to illustrate how even fighting over toys can be handled effectively with a rule.
